Locomotive Fuel Pump Test

Overview

Locomotive fuel pumps have a limited life and may present warning signs before they begin to fail. This setup was created to cycle a pump until it’s mechanical life is exceeded and begin to show sign of failure. Once a pattern has been established, it will be possible to detect an imminent failure and fix it before it causes a downtime incident.

One challenge is designing a fixture with all the necessary components that will meet or exceed the life of the pump itself.
